The Old Lodge Nursing Home was established over three decades ago. Set in the midst of the countryside with breathtaking views overlooking barley fields, we offer wonderfully peaceful surroundings for all individuals requiring 24 hour nursing care.
Philosophy of Care
We believe the people who are in our care are treated with dignity and respect and the environment is purposefully adjusted for their individual needs. We believe in the philosophy that the home is for our residents and we are merely their guests. The delivery of care for our individuals is of the highest standards and personalised according to their needs. Each individual is encouraged to remain independent within their capabilities.
About us
We offer nursing care for patients with various conditions eg. Huntington's Disease, strokes, multiple sclerosis, brain injuries, Parkinson's Disease, Motor- neuron and end of life care. Our team of professional nurses are highly qualified not just academically but most importantly have specialised knowledge and dedication to deliver care with a holistic approach.
We believe that one of the key areas to remaining healthy is excellent nutrition. Our Chefs take great pride in preparation of fine cuisine throughout the day. Food is prepared with local fresh produce to the highest standard and we encourage individuals to make choices regularly. Five a day fruit and vegetables are highly encouraged e.g. smoothies mid-morning as an extra beverage choice. We celebrate birthdays and special occasions with a variety of foods and provide celebration cakes and encourage family and friends to participate where possible.
We aim to maintain a healthy environment and this is enhanced by having visiting services such as hairdresser, chiropodist, physiotherapist, optician, dentist as and when required. The local GP visits the home at our request when required.
We have an excellent Activities Co- ordinator who actively encourages individuals to participate in activities of their personal choices such as bingo, dominoes, card games, quizzes, word searches, crosswords etc.

“The Victorians built an isolation hospital in the country, just outside Etwall, Derbyshire which has been transformed into a 5 star care home, for up to 47 guests, called The Old Lodge. I am an elderly gentleman who arrived here from hospital in March this year. The first thing you notice is that everywhere
is spotlessly clean. Every room is cleaned from top to bottom every morning and all door handles and surfaces are sanitised.”
